A Named Editor and a Build Log

A named editor

On 16 July the site got its authorship release: Joe Foley is the named editor and publisher on every page, declared once as a single entity in the structured data and referenced by every article. The public editorial contact is [email protected], and the About, Contact, and editorial-standards pages carry the visible version: who runs the site, how to reach them, and who answers for mistakes.

Articles are the topic; the blog is the site

Today the section formerly called the blog was renamed Articles, because that is what it is: topical long-form writing about leave planning. This Build Log takes over the blog address for a different job; the technical life of the site itself. The taxonomy is now portfolio-wide: Articles cover the subject, the Blog covers the engineering.

The mechanics, honestly: the six existing pieces moved to /articles/ with permanent redirects at each old address, every internal link, breadcrumb, and sitemap entry was rewritten, and the article pages kept their schema with the same named editor behind them. Nothing was deleted; one hub changed jobs.

House rules for this log

Entries older than this one are reconstructed from the project’s dated planning history, and say so. Gap weeks stay silent rather than being padded. The cadence from here is weekly, and the log is written by the same process that builds the site, which means every claim in it can be checked against a file, a commit, or a dated plan entry.
