Public-holiday dates are taken, in order of authority, from: the Fair Work Ombudsman; the official state and territory government public-holiday pages; and, for school terms, each state's Department of Education. Where sources differ — for example, on a regional or substitute holiday — we follow the state government's own listing and note the regional limitation.

Every date on this site is a hard fact rendered directly from our verified data files — we do not hand-type dates into articles. The surrounding explanation (strategy advice, "best windows", planning tips) is editorial commentary written to be genuinely useful, not a statement of your legal entitlements.

Data verification

Holiday and school-term data is checked against official sources before each release and re-checked at least quarterly, and whenever a government publishes a new year's dates. Each data file and content page carries a "last verified" date. The current data covers 2026 and 2027.
